The Bertelsmann Stiftung works to promote social inclusion for everyone. It is committed to advancing this goal through programs aiming to improve education, shape democracy, advance society, promote health, vitalize culture and strengthen economies. Through its activities, the Bertelsmann Stiftung aims to encourage citizens to contribute to the common good. Founded in 1977 by Reinhard Mohn, the nonprofit foundation holds the majority of shares in the Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA. The Bertelsmann Stiftung is a non-partisan, private operating foundation.
The Social Impact Navigator aims at promoting civil society and voluntary social engagement. To strengthen voluntary engagement helps to better adress relevant societal challenges – this objective is shared by the Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ). This is why it supports PHINEO with the German "Kursbuch Wirkung", which is the basis for the english counterpart, Social Impact Navigator.
The foundation was founded on 14 December 1998 by SAP AG. The foundation is primarily active abroad, especially in the so-called Newly industrialized countries. It focuses on education, science and research, development assistance, nature and environmental protection as well as international understanding. Through its funding, the foundation wants to develop the skills of people and organizations to use the available resources effectively and efficiently in order to achieve their own goals in the long term.
Stifterverband is a joint initiative started by companies and foundations – the only one in Germany to be devoted entirely to consulting, networking and promoting improvements in the fields of education, science and innovation. Above and beyond these three areas of activity, Stifterverband is one of the most important promoters of the foundation sector in Germany. For 60 years, Stifterverband has been a trustee of non-profit foundations and offers formal as well as administrative support for founders at the German Foundation Centre, its service centre for founders and foundations.
We are a philanthropic corporate foundation that is part of the international Vodafone Foundation network. Our mission is to strengthen social cohesion in the era of digital change. For this, we work in partnership with government, academia and civil society. As a think tank we initiate studies and conferences to develop ideas and solutions for policy and the public. Beyond that, we support selected organisations and initiatives in their practical work.
